Introduction

Guy (Ryan Reynolds) is just a normal person who lives in a very weird world. He works as a bank teller at his local bank, but every day, his bank gets robbed by random people. Guy doesn’t think much of this, and just goes on with his everyday life.

However, when he meets a new woman, everything begins to change for him. Guy begins to question everything, and soon, he learns that he isn’t actually a real person, he’s actually a background character in a video game. This changes things for Guy, and he must help prevent the video game that he lives in from being shut down for good.

Ripe Apples

Guy wants to help others. In Free City, the whole goal is to rob people and do bad things. However, Guy only wants to be a good guy. Therefore, he only helps people who are being harmed by bad people. Guy’s best friend is there for him when Guy is hurting, and does his best to help Guy even though he doesn’t understand what is going on.

In the real world, the creators of the game realize that since Guy is a background character, he shouldn’t be able to make his own decisions as every action he makes is programmed. When they find out that he may be the first NPC that is able to make its own decisions, they want credit for their work. They also want to keep the game alive so that they can learn more about Guy. However, the owner of the game wants to shut down the game so the creators do their best to stop the owner from shutting down the game.

Rotten Apples

Free City has some violence throughout it as people shoot each other and there are explosions. We see some blood in some scenes. Guy’s nose is broken in one scene, and it is pretty bloody.

There are a few women who wear some low-cut dresses. We also hear Guy say “it feels like I’m losing my virginity, but in my mouth” after drinking a coffee. Guy has a crush on a person in the real world and we see them kiss.

Guy’s friend suggests that Guy and him go to the beach and drink some beers.

We hear about 10 uses of the s word. The a word is used four times. The Lord’s name (combined with the d word) is used around 4 or 5 times. We hear the d word twice. The f bomb is heard once.

Conclusion

Overall, this film was very funny and creative. I enjoyed the crossovers that were included in the final fight scene. The overall lesson that being good is better than doing bad is also a great thing about this film. Watching Guy do good in a game where you are supposed to do bad was awesome. While there was some language in this film, overall it isn’t a bad film for adult audiences. If you like video games and comedy, this is a great film for you and I recommend that you check it out!
