Overview

Clint Barton finally has gotten the opportunity to spend time with his kids. Living the life of an Avenger impacts the lives of the people around Clint. But finally, after the events of Endgame, Clint is able to spend his first Christmas in a long time with his family. They have a whole lot of things planned, and as Clint finally can smile once again after losing his dear friend, Natasha, also known as the Black Widow.

Meanwhile, a young woman named Kate Bishop has discovered the Ronin suit, which Clint donned when his family was dusted away. Clint made a lot of enemies with this suit, and he just wanted to bury it in the past. However, when Kate puts on the suit and beats up a few guys, the news is all over the fact that the infamous Ronin is back. Clint sees the news and knows what must be done. The suit must be destroyed and Ronin must die before he can ever have a normal life again.

Ripe Apples

Clint loves his family, as we see in this series. However, he also knows when his help is needed. He wants to live his own life, and shows signs that he doesn’t want to be in the situation he is in, but he knows its his fault and he needs to clean up his mess. In the end of the series, he realizes being Ronin was wrong and hurt a lot of people and regrets everything he did. We see both Kate and Hawkeye saving people and protecting them from danger.

Kate Bishop is the newcomer in this series, a young avenger if you will. Clint trains her to be an Avenger and shows her many of his tricks. Kate and Clint have amazing chemistry after they get to know each other better. Clint explains to Kate that being a hero comes with sacrifices, which Kate later experiences. We also see some of Kate and Clint’s friends helping fight the Track Suits.

Rotten Apples

This series’ violence mostly includes explosions and gunfire. One person is killed off scene by a gun. We see one person hit by a car. In one episode we see a epic car chase. We see a few people get shot with arrows. Clint and Kate get beaten up pretty bad, and we see them bandaging their wounds. We see a few other people killed on scene and one dead body is rediscovered after being killed by a sword. We see a huge blood pile where he was cut.

There is not a lot of sexual content in this series at all. We see a few women wear a revealing top, but not too revealing. Clint calls his wife “babe” a few times but nothing really inappropriate. One couple plans to get married after dating a short time and the man says he needs to get to know his future daughter better, and we see a few suggestive comments, but nothing too inappropriate. This series receives a very mild rating in this area.

In two different scenes we see a lot of people drinking a unknown drink that is alcohol-related.

The language in this series is moderate for a Marvel production. A few uses of the word “d-m-“, “h-ll”, and “sh–“, are used probably once or twice an episode. We also hear the Lord and Jesus’ names misused a few times, totaling to about 6 to 8 in the whole series. We also hear “a–” a few times, but no f words. There are a few other minor words, but typically there is not a lot of language in this series.

Additional thoughts

When the trailer for this first dropped, I know that some people were unenthusiastic because they thought Hawkeye was being replaced by another hero, in this case, Kate Bishop. At the end of the series, it is unclear if Hawkeye has retired or if we will see him again. I hope we see him again because it was great to see the chemistry between the two. It was very similar to how Clint taught Wanda to not be afraid and say: “If you walk out that door you are an Avenger.”

On the other hand, the story makes perfect sense where Clint would want to retire and spend time with his family (I mean he retired once and came back in 5 minutes, so whose to say this is the last time we see Clint?). This series was probably one of my favorites to date, and I think you will enjoy the story as it is very well thought out and the cameos are unexpected. It’s also hilarious to see how Clint uses his hearing disability to his advantage.

Conclusion

In the end, this story is great. It was action packed and was a great film. It’s a great series to look more into Hawkeye’s story and what happened when he became Ronin. This series deserves a second season and I really love how Jeremy Renner plays Hawkeye. I also liked how Kate was the comic relief despite the situation. I look forward to watching the future of these two heroes in future productions. There are a few parts of this movie that weren’t needed, but it was moderate compared to other Marvel productions. I recommend you check this series out!
