Introduction
Master Yoda said many motivational quotes that can be used as great advice for people to use on a daily basis. The most motivational quote that he says is “Do or do not, there is no try.” Yoda says this when Luke Skywalker decides that he will try to learn the ways of the Jedi. Yoda immediately explains to him that you cannot make a commitment to try to do something. You need to either completely commit, or do not even start to try.
Why is this a great lesson?
In this day and age we see many people in the workplace and in the home that will start to do something and then will not follow through completely with what they started. This is an example of exactly what Yoda is saying. If you say your going to do something, you need to commit to doing it completely.
In Empire Strikes Back, Yoda wants Luke to be diligent. This has some Biblical tie ins. Proverbs 21:5 states: “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes to poverty.” It is crucial that we do our best with what we say we are going to do.
Now there will be times in the future that you will not be able to complete what you started off doing, but as long as you did your best and stayed committed then you have been diligent. No one is perfect and can get everything done.
The next time you want to try something, commit to it fully so that you may prevail with abundance. Share this advice with your friends and encourage them to watch Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
