Psych 2: Lassie Come Home

Psych 2: Lassie Come Home

Introduction

At the end of Psych: The Movie, Juliet and Shawn finally get married and they begin to live their life together. However, when Lassiter gets shot by a mysterious individual, the entire Psych family wants to figure out who the shooter was. Lassiter hires Shawn and Gus to snoop around the house he is recovering in, but they debate if Lassiter is actually in danger, or if it is just his imagination. With all the things that have happened in the past, some of the things that Carlton is describing actually don’t sound too far-fetched. Will Shawn and Gus be able to find Lassie’s shooter?

Ripe Apples

Despite the feud that Lassiter has had with Shawn and Gus in the past, when Lassiter is shot, both Shawn and Gus want to help. They try to calm him down and even look into the things that he is describing. When they find that there is an actual case, they will stop at nothing to solve the mystery.

Juliet is also concerned for her former partner, and she is trying to solve the mystery on her own. Eventually, she works with both Shawn and Gus so that they can figure out who the shooter actually was.

The actor who plays Carlton Lassiter actually had suffered from a stroke before filming this movie. That was the reason that he was not in the previous film. However, this movie ties that tragedy into the story, and we get to see Lassiter overcome the stroke and get back up on his feet. This is very encouraging and shows that if you put your mind to it, almost anything can be possible.

At one point in the film, Shawn believes that Juliet is pregnant, after finding a positive test. This gets him all concerned because he is worried that he won’t be a good father. However, his father, Henry, explains that having a kid is one of the greatest things that can happen to you. This helps Shawn mature and helps him become a better man. This is a very good lesson and I’m glad it was in the film.

Rotten Apples

Lassiter is shot offscreen in the beginning scene. Some blood is seen in this scene. A few people are seen pointing guns at people. A dog finds a human hand in the woods.

We hear a few sexual references in this film. The word “boner” is used once. Shawn and Gus make suggestive moves in two scenes. If you have seen the Psych series, the references are very similar.

There is a scene in the film where the characters are in a bar and drink alcohol. No one appears drunk, however.

There are a few uses of the d and h word. The Lord’s name is misused a few times.

Conclusion

Personally, I have always been a fan of the Psych series and films. They are very funny and entertaining. The characters are very interesting and its a lot of fun to watch their journeys unfold. I loved that the crew was able to include Lassiter’s actor’s stroke into the film. The ending scene is very powerful and meaningful to this franchise. I hope that they continue to make films like these because there are so many stories that could be told and they are just amazing to watch. What did you think of the film?
