Ripe Apples
This film has a lot of comedy and great laughs that aren’t inappropriate, which makes it a great family film to watch. Paul Blart is a very funny character that audiences enjoy watching.
Maya is very supportive of her father when he goes through some tough times. However, when Maya wants to go off to school, Paul is upset because he will be alone and she will be far away. However, by the end of the film, both of them realize their differences and Paul decides that it is better for Maya’s future that she go to the college that is not nearby. Both realize that they have to make some sacrifices at times. When Maya is kidnapped, Paul will stop at nothing to save his daughter.
When Paul finds out that there are criminals trying to steal the precious art in the hotel, he immediately gets on the case and does what is right. He doesn’t care that he isn’t employed nor not going to get paid. He wants to do what’s right because he know it is what he should do.
Rotten Apples
Most of the violence that is in this film is played for comedic effect. One person is run over by a truck but it is not graphic. We see people that have guns but everytime they shoot they miss except once and we don’t see any blood. One girl is kidnapped.
A few women have low-cut shirts or are wearing bikinis. We see one woman who is obsessed with Paul. There is a mention of Victoria’s secret. One butt is shown in the background in one scene.
One person is seen drunk in a bar at Las Vegas.
There isn’t really any language in this film which makes it a great family film!
Conclusion
Overall, this a pretty decent sequel to the original Mall Cop. In the beginning there were a few things that felt rushed. For example, having Paul’s wife at the beginning of the film leave him and his mom get run over by a car is meant to be funny, but it really wasn’t and made the story feel kind of weird. But the rest of the plot worked and it was a good laugh. I think that this is a great film for families as it is mostly appropriate for all ages. Which did you like better? This film, or its predecessor? Let me know in the comments!
