Introduction

Ronald Reagan is without any doubt one of the most popular presidents of the 20th and 21st century. His presidency has left an impact on America and the world. This film explores Reagan’s life as a young lifeguard, to a Hollywood Actor, to President of the United States. Ronald Reagan’s life is full of extraordinary events, and this film attempts to give us a window into what happened throughout his life.

Ripe Apples

Ronald Reagan truly loves his country and cares about everything America stands for. Reagan explains multiple times that he believes in the freedom to believe what you want to believe. He believes that freedom is one of the most important things that Americans have and he was willing to fight for it.

While Reagan is a child, he decides to give his life to Christ and is baptized. Throughout the film, Reagan is seen giving thanks to God for His help. When bad things happen to Reagan, he thanks God for what has happened and keeps a positive demeanor. Reagan says on multiple occasions that a door must’ve been opened or closed for a reason. Reagan’s character is a great testimony to those around him.

When Reagan is caught in the midst of a scandal, instead of covering his mistakes, Reagan confronts them. Reagan admits that he messed up and asked for the American people’s forgiveness.

Rotten Apples

The movie opens up with a scene portraying the assassination attempt of Ronald Reagan. We hear a gun fired a few times. We see a bullet hole in Reagan’s chest. We see some blood but not much. We also see a few other scenes in which there are protests that for the most part stay peaceful.

We see a few women wear some revealing clothing at a bar. We also see a few people kiss throughout the scene, but this is mostly Ronald and Nancy Reagan. We also hear a joke about one of Reagan’s cabinet members having a tattoo on his backside.

There are a few scenes where Reagan and other people smoke and drink alcoholic beverages. Cigarettes are seen throughout the film in multiple different scenes. Reagan’s father is an alcoholic and we see him drunk and passed out in one scene.

We hear the d and h word used a few times. The a word is used once. The language is very minimal in this film, but I was surprised when a few words were used.

Conclusion

I was not alive when Reagan was President (which makes me a young guy I know 🙂 ). I was very curious to watch this film because a lot of my friends and family say that Reagan was a great President and a good man. This film was amazing and really inspired me. While I know that not everything in the film may be true to the specific detail, the main premise and message are important. Reagan believed that American’s needed to be free to believe what they wanted and that everyone has a responsibility to the Lord.

Reagan was a great model for people to follow, and I truly believe that this film is a great educational film that explores the life of an extraordinary man. While this film does talk about politics, there is some comedy, and romance in the film as well, so if politics isn’t your thing, I still reccomend you watch this film because it still is a very inspiring and interesting film.
