Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Introduction

Sonic is back in an all new movie! At the end of the last film, Sonic saved the day by defeating Dr. Robotnik and sent him to the mushroom planet. Sonic was able to stay on earth and has become kind of like a kid to Tom. However, with Dr. Robotnik determined to kill Sonic, he eventually finds his way back to earth with a new all-powerful friend named Knuckles. It’s up to Sonic and his friends, old and new, to defeat Dr. Robotnik and protect the master emerald from him. If Dr. Robotnik gets the master emerald, then he will have ultimate power,  but Sonic won’t let that happen.

Ripe Apples

Tom wants Sonic to become the best hero he can. Sonic is very reckless in the beginning of the film and he learns that he still has a lot to learn and he can learn it from his father figure Tom. In the end Sonic starts to become more responsible but realizes he still has further to go.

Sonic is seen saving his friends on multiple occasions and trying to protect them as well. He always tries to do the right thing, even though sometimes it doesn’t work out as planned.

Rotten Apples

The violence in this film is mostly animated. We see some missile explosions, gunfire and one person is tazed. We also see Knuckles and Sonic fist fight a lot. Not much blood is seen. We also see some a big robot with laser eyes wreck havoc on a town.

There is some sexual content in this film that would fly over kids heads but is still there.  A bride asks a question about the person “who waxed, you know…. my thing.” We also see a few women wear shirts that show some cleavage. There are multiple men shirtless in this film. We also hear jokes about how to kill something and that they need to find its weak spot. One character suggests the groin, and this is said multiple times. There is one scene where Sonic wakes up and an old woman is on top of him in a suggestive way and Sonic is very confused.

There is one scene in a bar. We also see people at a wedding consuming alcoholic drinks.

The language in this film is similar to the first. We hear 3 to 4 uses of hell. We hear about 4 to 5 uses of the Lord’s name in vain. There is a few s words that are goofed up and added parts so they aren’t the really word, like shimushroom(honestly no one knew what this character said.) We also here some name calls like Donut Lord. There also is a few uses of damn and quite possibly one other moderate curse word.

Additional Thoughts

This was a good sequel to the first movie. It had some references to the first one. Also, we get to see Sonic become more of a hero. The lesson in this film is a good one to learn. We always have more to learn and we never know it all. We also get to see a lot of action and this film is very funny at the same time being entertain.

One thing I could not decide about is Dr. Eggman’s (Dr. Robotnik’s nickname) henchman. After Dr. Eggman is banished to the Mushroom planet the henchman has an obsession over Dr. Eggman. I can’t decide if its just a stupid henchman, or if this henchman is meant to be gay. The reason for my suspicions is that we see the henchman draw both his and Dr. Eggman’s faces in a latter with hearts. Dr. Eggman does not feel the same way about his henchman, however. I will leave this up to the viewer to decide his or her interpretation.

Conclusion

In the end, this is an exciting sequel with a great lesson. There is some questionable content in this film, but in the end it is a fun and entertaining film. Seeing Sonic grow up and learn how to become more responsible is a good lesson for viewers to learn. It’s also exciting to see more characters from the Sonic universe join these films like Knuckles and Tails. What did you think of this film? Let us know in the comments!
