Opinion: Obi-Wan Kenobi receives a low rating in UK

Disney Plus UK has rated the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. They have decided that ages 9 and up can watch this series. This is very exciting news for many Star Wars fans for a variety of reasons. I will share my opinion of why Obi-Wan Kenobi received this rating, and what outcome it will have on the series.

Why did it receive this rating?

Since this series received a lower rating than The Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett, it is safe to say that the content in this series will not be too violent. I do expect that we will see some blood, and some lightsaber fights, but I do not expect that we will see too much graphic violence. I also do not expect much if any sexual content in this series.

I do expect we will have a few cantina scenes in which we will see some alcohol beverages consumed. I do not expect a lot of language in this series. I believe that overall this series will be family friendly and everyone will be able to watch the latest Star Wars production.

What will be the outcome?

I have to say that after all the news around Disney Plus including LGBTQ content in their films, this is a sight for sore eyes for me. The rating that Obi-Wan Kenobi received has reassured me that this will be a great series and will focus more on the story than politics. I am even more excited for this film now that this rating has been released. I believe that this series will be a big hit since it has a low rating and will be more family friendly than other Disney Plus shows being released right now. I do expect some people will have wanted more violence, language, and other content in this series, but in my opinion you don’t need that content to make a good tv series.

Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s first two episodes premiere on May 27th, 2022 and will be released weekly on Fridays after that.
