Introduction

It’s been almost ten years since we last saw Riley on the big screen, and since then she has been enjoying hanging out with her friends, playing hockey, and spending time with her parents. Riley is also going to be going to a hockey camp in a few days with her best friends. However, inside her mind, the emotions are in for a big surprise. Joy, Anger, Sadness, Disgust, and Fear had been Riley’s only emotions up to this point.

However, on the night before camp, they discover a brand new button on their console called “Puberty.” The emotions are confused as to what this button does, but soon after the button starts flashing, four new emotions appear in Riley’s mind. These emotions are Anxiety, Boredom, Embarrassment, and Envy. These emotions have their own way of how they want to help Riley navigate camp and high school. This way differs from what Joy and the other emotions think is best for Riley, which leads to some conflict. Will the emotions be able to work together, or is all hope lost?

Ripe Apples

At the end of the last film, all the emotions learned that they can work together to help Riley create great memories. However, sometimes there are bad memories that are made throughout life. Joy had been avoiding these bad memories by shooting them to the back of the brain so that Riley didn’t have to worry about them. Anxiety does something similar by populating Riley’s head with memories about her needing to be cool to find friends. Towards the end of the film, both Joy and Anxiety realize that what they are doing is wrong as both good and bad memories are necessary for Riley to be the person she wants to be.

Since the last film, Riley has developed a “belief” system, which is formed by a bunch of her core memories. This belief system helps Riley be the person that she is. While this belief system is not necessarily religious, Riley’s belief system helps tell more about who she is. For example, she believes that she is a good person, funny, and a great friend.

The new emotions don’t get along with the emotions from the previous film. However, after seeing the damage of what could happen if they don’t help each other, they begin to work together. If Riley wants to feel an emotion, that emotion will come to the console and help her feel that emotion.

Rotten Apples

We see a few explosions with dynamite. We also see the emotions fight, which involves them pushing each other over or picking each other up and throwing across the room. The violence is very similar to the first film and other Pixar films.

Embarrassment ducks and hides under furniture and we see his a glimpse of his butt in a few scenes. A few of the girls at hockey camp are wearing sports bras in the locker room.

Anxiety is addicted to coffee and energy drinks and is seen drinking them one many occasions in the film. These drinks make her hyper and not think clearly.

“What the heck” is used a few times.

Conclusion

Inside Out 2 surprised me in many ways. I was honestly not planning on watching it due to the path that Pixar has been headed on since Lightyear. However, after I found out that there was not any woke content in the film, I decided that I would go check it out. I was pleasantly surprised to find there was no woke content and that this film actually tells a good lesson while being entertaining. Inside Out 2 is a great sequel that explains the importance of being a good friend. The film is very funny and great for all ages. If you are on the edge about watching this film, I highly recommend this film if you have seen and loved the first one. This film does not disappoint and is actually a great film.
