There are a lot of Christian films to choose from to watch. However, sometimes it is hard to find one that is both entertaining and educational. Sometimes there are films that are only entertaining, but not as much educational, or vice versa. Today I’m going to share with you the top 5 movies that I recommend this year that are both entertaining and educational.
5 – Left Behind: Rise of the Anti-Christ
Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist is a sequel to Left Behind (2014). It has been six months since the Rapture, and Raymond Steele (Kevin Sorbo) is trying to figure out what he should believe. As he learns the truth about the Rapture and the Tribulation, one man begins to come into the spotlight and Raymond believes that this man might be the Anti-Christ. Will Raymond be able to stop the Anti-Christ from accomplishing his mission?
I especially think this film is relevant in 2024 since it uses events that have happened in the present to show what it would be like if the Rapture happened today. References to Covid-19 and other recent events make it feel relevant to this year.

4 – The Hill
Ricky Hill has always wanted to be a baseball player. However, since a young age he has has a degenerative spinal disease that keeps him in leg braces. While he doesn’t want to give up on his dream, his father, James Hill (Dennis Quaid) has it envisioned that his son is going to grow up to be a preacher.
This tension causes a tear between father and son, and that tear can only be healed by an understanding of each other and realizing that God has a different path for every person. Each path can bring God glory in its own way. This is a great family film to watch that has a great story and a great lesson. It’s also based on a true story which also makes it inspiring.

3 – Sound of Freedom
Based on a true story, Tim Ballard (Jim Caviezel) is a special agent that’s main job is to arrest people who possess and distribute child pornography. Tim is heartbroken by the type of stufff that he sees, and he wishes to help put a stop to it.
Eventually, Tim come up with an idea for a sting operation where he can arrest some sex traffickers and save hundreds of children. As Tim meets people who can help him with this operation, he realizes that it is going to take a lot more than just 1 person to put an end to the evil in this world.
Sound of Freedom has some themes that aren’t great for the entire family to see. It is meant more for an adult audience. However, the film does a great job of experiencing the seriousness of trafficking that goes on in the world. It is a film that every parent needs to see so that they will understand what is really going on in the world.

2 – The Shift (2023)
Kevin Garner’s life is upside down. After getting married to the love of his life, Molly, they have a child who disappears one day when they are out at the store. Unable to find him, they assumed the worst. Both Kevin and Molly are broken and have no idea how to move on without their son. When Kevin learns that he is about to lose his job, he starts to drive home when he is hit by a car.
When Kevin wakes up, he is met by a man who calls himself “The Benefactor”, who offers him a life of happiness and everything that he would ever want in exchange for Kevin serving him. However, Kevin realizes that this is a trap and he rejects the offer. Kevin, now trapped in an alternate dimension, must find a way back home to his wife.
The Shift is great for science fiction fans as it has alternate dimensions and new sci-fi technology. The film also is based off of the Book of Job, which makes if a very interesting and entertaining film.

1 – Beyond the Mask
William Reynolds has been an assassin his entire life for the East India Company. However, he begins to want to quit, his boss wants to have him killed. After fleeing his former employer’s house, he is forced to take up the life as a vicar. Eventually the past will catch up with William and he has to decide what he is going to do, face his past, or just keep running.
I absolutely love Beyond the Mask and highly recommend it to anyone who loves action and adventure. This film takes place during the American Revolutionary War, and has characters like Benjamin Franklin and George Washington. This film is educational, inspiring, and entertaining.
