by There have been rumors that have been going around on the internet that Henry Cavill has joined the MCU. Henry Cavill is known best for his role as Superman in the DC universe. In fact, at the end of Black Adam, Henry Cavill’s Superman was teased to return. However, after the DC universe ended, it seems that Henry Cavill’s time as Superman has ended. This gives him the perfect opening to join the MCU.
With rumors circling the internet about Henry Cavill joining the MCU, it seems very likely that we may see Henry in an upcoming Marvel production. While these rumors have not been confirmed, fans have begun to cast their choices for which character that Henry could portray. In this article I’m going to share my top 3 picks for who Henry Cavill could play in the MCU.
3. Silver Surfer
The Silver Surfer has been rumored to come to the MCU in a special presentation on Disney Plus, similar to Werewolf by Night. However, there has been no official announcement for this special yet. This is not the only place where the Silver Surfer could be introduced into the MCU. With the Fantastic Four (2025) releasing next year, it’s possible that we could see the Silver Surfer as soon as next year.
While this wouldn’t be my first choice for Henry Cavill, I could see him pulling off this role. While he was in the DC universe, he played an alien who came to earth and had to adapt to the world. Henry could use this similarity to project some Superman-like characteristics into the Silver Surfer which I think would be interesting to see on-screen.
2. Doctor Doom
With Marvel seeming to shift away from Kang as the next big bad of the MCU, there have been rumors that Doctor Doom may be the next main villain in the MCU. With a possible introduction in either Deadpool 3 or The Fantastic Four (2025), it would make sense for Marvel to be casting this role in the near future if it has not already been done.
I have a hard time picturing Henry Cavill as a villain in the MCU, since he played Superman in the DC universe. However, he has played villains before and done an exceptional job. I think that Henry Cavill is very popular and therefore being cast as Dr. Doom would be a great move for Marvel as Henry is a great actor who could do the character justice.
1. Captain Britain
Henry Cavill himself has said on record that he would love to play Captain Britain in the MCU.
“I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else because everyone’s doing such an amazing job. However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.”

Personally, I think that this would be a great role for Henry Cavill. Henry would be able to play a superhero, which I clearly think he was born to play. He would also get to play a British superhero, which would be something rather new and refreshing. Henry Cavill doesn’t seem to be in the lineup for being the next James Bond, so becoming Captain Britain would give him the ability to play a different British hero. Overall, this is probably the best choice for Henry Cavill, and it could open the MCU up to some new superheroes and stories.
