Spoilers ahead!

Introduction

Gru is a young kid who has the inspiring dream to become something none of his other classmates want to become. Gru wants to be come a super villain. His main dream is to become a member of the Vicious 6. However, after being turned down since he is a child, he teams up with a old member of the Vicious 6 to get revenge on the Vicious 6. Along for the ride are the Minions, who try to help Gru in his mission to become the ultimate super villain.

Ripe Apples

The Minions are very loyal to Gru. While the reason that they are so loyal is not explained, they are always there to help Gru, even if he treats them badly. When Gru is captured, the Minions do everything they can to get him back as soon as possible.

Wild Knuckles is betrayed by the team that he created, the Vicious 6. He values teamwork as the most important thing for a team. Wild Knuckles also wants to help Gru achieve his dreams (though those dreams are to be a villain, sooo…..)

Rotten Apples

CRUCIAL: Gru’s dream is to become a super villain, which obviously should not be what should be what other kids should dream about becoming. Lies and cheating are promoted. Therefore, this is important to note if you are going to show this film to younger children who may not know any better.

There are some explosions and scenes in which character engage in fist fights and other cartoonish fighting. Nothing to violent and no blood is seen.

There are a lot of potty jokes throughout this film. Jokes involving farting are used a few times. We see the backside of Gru and two of his minions. A male minion is turned into a chicken and lays eggs.

There is no drug or language content in this film.

Conclusion

When it comes to children films, I look for films that teach lessons to children. For example, the original Cars taught kids to not be proudful. I look for children films that actually teach a lesson to children. While this film did have some funny bits, it was more of a film for laughs than it was to have any solid plot. But of course, that is just my opinion. Let me know if the comments what you think about this film!
