What to Watch before the Multiverse of Madness?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres this weekend. Many people, however, are wondering what movies they need to watch/refresh on before they watch Marvel’s latest installment in the MCU. 1. Doctor Strange

This movie is very important for anyone considering to watch the new film because it introduces Doctor Strange. In this film we see Stephen Strange go from being a rich neurosurgeon to being a nobody after a car accident that causes him to have unsteady hands, which prevents him from being able to do his current job. Desperate for his old life, Stephen tries every experimental surgery to fix his hands. After failing, he meets someone who was able to walk again and completely recovered with the help of person known as the Ancient One. The Ancient One helps Strange fix his hands, at the same time training him how to become a powerful sorcerer to fight against the evil Dormannu and his followers who wants to take over the world.

2. Spiderman: No Way Home

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the sequel to this film. In this film, Peter Parker’s identity is revealed to the entire world. Desperate for a return to his old life, Peter enlists the help of Doctor Strange who tries to cast a spell to make the world forget Peter Parker was Spiderman. However, when the spell goes wrong, Spiderman and Doctor Strange much capture and cure the villains that Spidermen from other universes fight. At the end of the film, they successfully send the multiverse’s villains home and Doctor Strange has wiped everyone, including himself, of memory of Peter Parker. However, the damage has already been done, which will lead to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

3. WandaVision

WandaVision was the first series to be released on Disney Plus. The show finds Wanda shortly after Avengers: Endgame. Wanda is crushed that Vision died in Avengers Infinity War. So she leaves to the town of Westview where she creates her own sitcom of life and recreates Vision and has a family. At the end of the series the villain, Agatha Harkness, fights Wanda and Wanda destroys her hex and her family disintegrates. The series ends with Wanda becoming the Scarlet Witch and she is studying the Darkhold, a book of dangerous spells. Wanda will appear in this Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so it is important to understand what she has been through since Avengers: Endgame.

4. Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame

Avengers Age of Ultron is important because the trailers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have shown that we will see some Ultron bots and possibly a version of Ultron so it is important to understand where Ultron came from. This is also Wanda Maximoff’s first ever appearance in MCU.

Avengers Infinity War and Endgame show many important events such as the Blip, Vision’s death, and Doctor Strange experiencing the 14 billion outcomes of the future. This is important to understand for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

5. What If? Series

It is unclear to what priority this series will have for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We have seen Captain Carter and Supreme Strange teased in the trailers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so they will be included in the film. Therefore, to be on the safe side it is a good idea to watch this series just so you will be prepared for who might show up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
